Silverscape History
Fall 1998 Silverscape founders, Caitlin Jewell and Jeff Leiter, begin assembling ideas, strategy and clients behind a new type of marketing firm that balances sophisticated design with innovative technology solutions. Taking advantage of new opportunities with Internet marketing, the team built its approach on Caitlin’s background in advertising and Jeff’s background in architectural design and training at MIT.

April 1999 Silverscape moves offices from Cambridge to loft space in a converted mattress factory in the Fort Point Channel area of Boston.

June 1999 Working with Lernout & Hauspie, one of Silverscape’s first multi-national clients, the firm created a series of multimedia product demonstrations and implemented marketing projects across a variety of channels. As a world leader in speech technology, L&H became an important early client for Silverscape and helped the firm develop its approach toward integrated marketing campaigns.

October 1999 Initial release of Silverscape’s Common Goal software is deployed to provide clients with a solution for information sharing over the Internet. Common Goal was originally developed as a content and project management system for the architecture and construction industries - offering a solution in what became a new paradigm of architectural project management.

February 2000  Silverscape team enters the MIT 50K business competition for commercialization of its Common Goal project/content management application.

May 2000 The first release of Common Goal WebManager to allow clients to easilly maintain their website content is made available. WebManager emerged as a leading website content management application from our Common Goal platform of products.

June 2001 “Like a Rocketship for your Marketing Ideas” dimensional-direct campaign kicks off and provides Silverscape with unprecedented ROI on a self-promotion campaign.

November 2001 Silverscape relocates its offices to the second floor of 75 Broad Street across from the Architects Building, and in the historic end of Boston’s financial district.

April 2002 In a debut appearance at the New England Direct Marketing Association’s annual awards ceremony, Silverscape wins awards for dimensional direct marketing program.

March 2003 eDesign Magazine honors Silverscape’s production of "Approaches to Immunotherapy" for Genzyme in its Best Of CD-ROM/DVD awards category. The interactive animation and tutorial was designed to educate clinicians, patients and investors on the promise of Genzyme’s cancer therapies.

July 2003 Common Goal OfficePortal is introduced as robust tool for providing clients with a full-featured intranet or extranet application. Building on our history of application development and experience with the Common Goal content management platform, the product offered an exciting new area of solutions.

October 2004 A newly developed website for Silverscape is launched to reflect the firm’s full-range of services and focused emphasis on integrated marketing and technology.

January 2005  Expansion to the third and fourth floors of the 75 Broad Street office is complete and accompanied by record growth of the Silverscape’s client base and staff.

April 2005  The Horizon Interactive Awards announced Silverscape was a winner in both interactive and website design categories.

September 2005  A completely redesigned version 5.0 of the Common Goal family of products is released as Silverscape begins increasing focus on designing solutions for intranets and extranets. The WebManager product continues to serve as a rock-solid foundation for all website design projects.

October 2005  The Boston Business Journal names Silverscape #17 of the top 25 New England Design firms.
